Programs

Every day children participate in a wide range of activities at the Boys and Girls Club of West Cook County. During the school year, members are required to finish homework before starting an activity. 

Our programs are based on five core areas:  

  • Health and Life Skills 

  • Character and Leadership Development 

  • Sports, Fitness and Recreation 

  • Education and Career Development 

  • The Arts 

The Boys & Girls Club of West Cook County provides programs that impact the daily development of our youth. 

They include:

ALLSTARS

ALL STARS engages Club members 6-18 in football, basketball, cheerleading and dancing.

ARTS & CRAFTS

Members get to unleash their creative minds and experience different and unique arts & crafts projects they’re sure to bring home from centuries old leather stamping, messy finger painting, paper mache, and much more!

BGCWCC HAWKS BASKETBALL

Members get to unleash their creative minds and experience different and unique arts & crafts projects they’re sure to bring home from centuries old leather stamping, messy finger painting, paper mache, and much more!

CAREER LAUNCH

CareerLaunch prepares teens for the world of careers and work. Through CareerLaunch, Club teens 13-18 years old embark on a journey to explore possible vocations, make sound educational decisions and find success in the world of work.

CLUB TECH

Club Tech is an ambitious, multi-year initiative aimed at building Member’s computer skills and integrating technology in all Core Program Areas.Club Tech helps our Clubs incorporate technology in every aspect of their operation. Most importantly, young people develop the technology skills necessary to succeed in school and the job market.

DIY S.T.E.M.

DIY STEM is a hands-on, activity-based STEM curriculum which connects youth to science themes they encounter regularly.

HEALTHY HABITS

Healthy Habits emphasizes good nutrition, regular physical activity and improved overall well-being

MONEY MATTERS

Money Matters promotes financial responsibility and independence among Club members ages 13 to 18. Participants learn how to manage a checking account, create a budget, save and invest, start small businesses and pay for college.

PASSPORT TO MANHOOD

Passport to Manhood promotes and teaches responsibility while reinforcing positive behavior in male Club members ages 11 to14. Passport to Manhood consists of 14 small-group sessions, each of which concentrates on a specific aspect of manhood through highly interactive activities. Each participant is issued his own "Passport" to underscore the idea that he is on a journey of maturation and personal growth.

POWER HOUR/HOMEWORK CLUB

Providing homework help and tutoring and encouraging members to become self-directed learners.

An incentive based homework program providing Club members from grades K-12th with homework help and tutoring on school subjects, have access to the use of computers for homework as needed, and encouraged to complete their daily assignments. Power Hour encourages members to become self-directed learners.

TORCH CLUB

A year-long leadership & service club for members in grades 6-8th grade. They learn to elect officers & work together to implement community service projects for The Club & community.

Initiatives are based on member interests and have included such initiatives volunteering at local food depositories, and handing out meals for the holidays to families in need.

TRIPLE PLAY

A program for members K-12th grades that promotes fitness through fun, engaging & competitive intramural sports & recreational activities that also emphasizes teamwork and sportsmanship. Organized team events often include challenges with BGCWCC staff.

S.M.A.R.T. GIRLS

A program for 6-12th grade girls designed to develop healthy attitudes & lifestyles, as well as provide positive mentor relationships. Topics include friendship, bullying, cliques, body image, media manipulation, & goal setting.

SUMMER BRAIN GAIN

Summer Brain Gain is comprised of one-week modules with fun, themed activities for elementary school, middle school and high school students that are aligned with common core anchor standards. In addition, Summer Brain Gain: Read!, a literacy program, complements the larger Summer Brain Gain curriculum.

YOUTH OF THE YEAR

Youth of the Year celebrates teens whose Club experience has empowered them to find their voice and achieve success through afterschool experiences rooted in what matters to them most – choice, access and passion.

One youth is selected to represent our Boys & Girls Club and join their counterparts from across the country to enter the National Youth of the Year scholarship program.
